How to save data on Snapchat by using the Memories feature

How to save data on Snapchat

If you’re a regular user of Snapchat, you know how easy it is to use a lot of mobile data without even realizing it. Even just sharing a couple videos when you’re out and about can rack up 50-100 MB of cellular data usage.

While Snapchat has Data Saver mode to help lower your mobile data usage when viewing Snaps from friends and family, there hasn’t been an easy way to reduce your data usage when sending them, until now!

Snapchat’s Memories feature allows you to save your pictures and videos for later, letting you share them once you’re back on a Wi-Fi connection. While it may not be an “up-to-the-minute” Snap, it’s a small price to pay to significantly reduce your mobile data usage, and lower your phone bill if you’re on a pay-for-the-data-you-use plan like Ting Mobile’s Flex plan.

We’ll walk you through the steps on how to save data on Snapchat right away using this feature.

How to save data on Snapchat

Step 1: After taking your Snap…

Tap the Save/Download arrow on the bottom left side (circled in red).

Tapping this automatically adds add your media into your personal Snapchat Memories section, which lets you send your pictures and videos at a later time.

Step 2: Once you’re back on a Wi-Fi connection

Access your Memories by tapping the small circle at the bottom of your main Snapchat screen (circled in red to the right).

Once you’re in the Memories section, choose the Snap you want to share, tap anywhere on your screen and tap Edit & Send at the bottom of the screen (or just long-press).

Now, just go ahead with your regular routine for sending Snapchats to your friends and family, except without wasting of your any precious mobile data!

If you’d like to share the Snap externally, tap the top left Menu bar. You can choose to share it directly to an app, save it to your device, move to a secret, password-protected folder and create a story from your Snap.

You can also share pictures and videos taken outside of Snapchat. Just tap Camera Roll at the top of Memories and choose your desired content.
