Need to replace your Sprint phone? Choose one of these.

A pair of hands opening a brand new phone

With the Sprint network going away, you may have to replace your Sprint phone soon. Fear not, we’ve compiled this quick guide for finding you an awesome upgrade that’ll feel familiar, without costing you an arm and a leg.

Wait, why can’t I use my Sprint phone?

As of April 2020, Sprint officially merged with T-Mobile, and the Sprint brand name and network are going away.

Sprint was a 3G CDMA network, an older network technology. Some Sprint phones will be compatible with other providers (check if yours is one with the Ting Mobile device checker) but phones that can only use the CDMA network will need to be replaced.

We’ve compiled a list of the most popular CDMA-only phones and suggested a worthy replacement that will work on newer networks. As a bonus, all of these phones offer a nice upgrade from your current Sprint network (CDMA) phone.

Alcatel flip phone

If you have an older Alcatel flip phone, like the Alcatel Go Flip or Alcatel OneTouch Flip, then you should try out the Motorola moto e (2020). This <$120 phone is budget-friendly, has a lot of similar features to your current phone, but you’ll still notice a few much-needed upgrades.

For an entry-level phone, it packs a punch. It has a HD display screen, and is still small enough to fit comfortably in your hand. Also, because its battery can last up to two days and it has dual cameras, you’ll be able to take plenty of pictures and stream lots of movies.

Hey, just because you have to switch your phone, doesn’t mean you can’t use it as an excuse to get an upgrade. This phone is definitely a step up.

iPhone 4/4S, 5/5C/5S, 6/6 plus

You should give Apple’s new iPhone SE a try. It’s just $349 in the Ting Mobile Shop and although it’s small in size, it’s mighty. As its an iPhone, you’ll have a smooth transition from your older, CDMA-only Sprint phone.

iPhone SE is the most powerful 4.7-inch iPhone ever1. Featuring a powerful A13 Bionic chip for incredible performance in apps, games, and photography. Portrait mode for studio-quality portraits and six lighting effects. Next-generation Smart HDR for incredible detail across highlights and shadows. Cinematic-quality 4K video. And all the advanced features of iOS

If iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch Retina HD display is too small for you, then get iPhone 11. For $599, you’ll be able to shoot 4K videos, beautiful portraits, and sweeping landscapes with the dual-camera system. You can also see true-to-life color in your photos, videos, and games on the 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display2

Samsung J3, J7 2016, S3, S4, S5

A great choice for you is the new Samsung Galaxy A12. You’re used to the way the Samsung phones operate and while there have been upgrades, it’ll be an easy transition for you. Plus at just $159, it’s a budget-friendly option that has a lot of fantastic features.

It has a large 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity-V display screen and a quad-lens rear camera system, so you’ll enjoy stunning picture quality while streaming videos and taking photos.

With its 5000 mAh battery, you’ll be ready for anything and, when you don’t have time to waste, Fast Charging can power you up in no time at all.

This phone is a marked upgrade from your current Sprint phone but won’t break the bank.

Getting a new phone might be a hassle, especially since it was working fine until the Sprint/T-Mobile merger, but think of it as a fresh start.
