New year, new plans, same Ting Mobile

Ting Mobile’s new Flex plan with unlimited talk and text starts at $10. Unlimited data plans start at $45.

Back in November, we were thrilled to announce a series of new plans that mark a bold new approach for Ting Mobile and the culmination of a lot of hard work from the Ting Mobile team, working with DISH.

This post is for Ting Mobile customers on pay for what you use rates. We want to share what’s new, what’s the same and why this may be the first that you are hearing the news of new Ting Mobile pricing and plans.

New plans and prices? Why didn’t you tell us?!

Fair question. The short answer is that it’s a marathon not a sprint.

The first leg focused on inviting new customers while we worked to perfect the process of moving existing customers over to these new plans—a process that required individual intervention by our support team—a process that takes time to do properly.

Jumping the gun, inviting too many existing customers into the queue would have lead to frustration, wasted time and an overall bad experience. All things we, particularly our customer support team, work tirelessly to avoid.

This is the second leg, we’ve hit our stride and we’re ready to open the floodgates.

Okay, so what’s new?

In a word, choice.

First, let us state for the record that if you want to stick with the same pay-per-use Ting Mobile rates you pay today, you can. No action is required to do that.

If Ting Mobile pricing, most particularly data pricing, has been a sticking point for you, our new plans based on how much high-speed data you need, may well prove a better fit.

At a glance, our plans look a little something like this:

Flex – This plan includes unlimited talk and text for $10 per month, per line, plus pay-per-use high-speed data at $5 per GB, shared across all your Flex lines. For customers who use a feature phone or turn off data entirely, it makes for a great unlimited talk and text plan.
Set 5 – This plan includes unlimited talk and text, plus 5 GB of high-speed data for $25 per month, per line. This is great for customers who want more than 3 GB of high-speed data but don’t need unlimited and want to save some cash. Data on Set plans is allotted per line and is not shared.
Unlimited – These plans include unlimited data, talk and text, and start at just $45 per month, per line, with options for hotspot data. High-speed data on Unlimited plans is allotted per line and is not shared.

We’re hoping that this variety will allow more people to “choose smarter” by choosing a Ting Mobile that works for them.

Those are some big changes! Is anything the same?

Yes, literally everything else.

Same real, human customer support agents.

Same coast-to-coast coverage.

Same commitment to an amazing mobile experience. (i.e. no contracts, no hidden fees and no nasty surprises.)

Heck, we even have the same Social Media Manager who tries to get people to plug our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Reddit) every time he’s asked to write a blog post.
